WELLNESS EXAMS & SICK CARE

Cat and dog exams are similar to your checkup at the doctor. Our goal is to perform a thorough assessment of your pet’s health so we can assign treatment where needed or just work on maintaining your pet’s wellness. For wellness exams, we’ll thoroughly evaluate your pet’s health and make sure no problems are brewing beneath the surface. In the event your pet is brought in for a sick exam, we’ll address your concerns and assess their symptoms so we can quickly get them the care they need.

WHAT VACCINES DOES MY PET NEED?

Some vaccines, considered “core” vaccines, are highly recommended (and even mandated by law) for all pets due to the dangerous and contagious nature of the diseases they protect against.

Core vaccines for dogs and cats include: Rabies, DHPP (aka DAPP or DA2PP), Feline Distemper

Beyond the core vaccines, there are also lifestyle or noncore vaccines that we recommend on an individual basis for each pet, depending on their level of risk. We’ll assess their age, health, and lifestyle before making a recommendation.

some lifestyle vaccines your pet may need: Bordetella, Lyme disease, Canine influenza

TESTS WE RUN WITH OUR IN-HOUSE LAB

our pet can’t speak (well, not human language, anyway), and so it can be hard to know when they are starting to feel unwell. Cats and dogs are notorious at hiding signs of illness until the disease has further progressed, making early detection difficult. Enter lab work. With lab work including blood analyses, urinalysis, fecal exams, and skin testing, we can more readily detect abnormalities and start your pet on a treatment plan before there are physical symptoms. This greatly improves your pet’s recovery time and limits their discomfort.

EMERGENCY & ICU CARE

Our mission at Keystone Veterinary Emergency and Referral is to provide exceptional quality, state of the art, medical and surgical care to our small animal patients and their owners. Your pet will be treated as soon as possible, on a triage basis, which means cases will be prioritized according to the severity of illness. Every effort will be made to assure your pet’s comfort and safety while awaiting treatment.
